1.1 Introduction
In Malay, Bukit Merah means "red hill" (bukit is Malay for "hill", while merah means "red").
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is Malaysia's premier eco tourism destination in the northern region, the resort offers a wide variety of excitement with its water park being the main attraction, the only conservational Orang Utan Island in Peninsular Malaysia and the unique Eco Park with its educational walk-in enclosures where you can experience nature by interacting with some friendly animals. Also Bukit Merah has a range of accommodations themed-shopping and entertainment arena, banquet and function facilities as well as various lake and outdoor activities.
The Bukit Merah Lake Town was developed in 1995. Apart from the Lake Town Water Park & Resort, there are plenty of accommodation facilities all at one location, ranging from hotel rooms to serviced apartments, as well as the luxurious 'Kampung' chalets by the lake. For the more adventurous, you can even try out a camping holiday at the lakeside camping ground.
The theme park is part of a 600ha lake town resort development. Among the exciting water activities highlights are the giant wave pool, games pool, adult and children's slow river rides, kid's water playground, giant bubble, three giant water flume rides, three raft tube rides and twin speed slides. Equipment such as boogie boards, floating tubes and other water play equipment can be purchased or hired from the "Surf Shack Shop".
The Water Park is great if you enjoy swimming and cooling down by the pool side. Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is a gem of a haven, overlooking a great expanse of shimmering water broken only by islands sparsely dotted on the lake.
The Bukit Merah Lake with its scenic view has railroad passing through it. The scenery from the trains passing through this lake is said to be breathtaking. The lake is the main water source for the Kerian District.
It's an ideal location for total relaxation in the midst of a peaceful environment. Here you can rediscover the soothing presence of everything that is green and natural. The beauty and tranquillity of the area, especially the lake surrounding the Resort makes one feel that he is part of nature.
1.2 Problem Statement and Issues
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort has been one of Malaysian tourism spot since its establishment in 1995. However, lacking of advertising strategies and minimal utilization of the mass media in promoting the place has resulted in low brand recognition among tourist. There are many other popular amusement parks in Malaysia such as Genting Highlands, Sunway Lagoon and Cosmo World Berjaya Times Square, all with their own attractions and publicity. Bukit Merah itself has been commonly mistaken for Bukit Merah in Singapore. Plus, there is no proper public transportation for tourist to Bukit Merah unless if you’re driving.
1.3 Objectives and Aims
1.3.1 Objectives
· To organize an annual event or competition, great impact of returning tourist locally or internationally. Example: photography competition, kayak race competition and etc.
· To work or collaborate with media agencies (television, radio, newspaper etc) and create events (teambuilding, family day, sports day etc).
1.3.2 Aims
· To make Bukit Merah Laketown Resort recognized by the public thus making it a well known visited spot.
· To make sure people who visit the amusement park enjoy their visit and be able to discover the beauty of the place
